Top 3 Bold Red Lipsticks

Tuesday, 31 March 2015

Red lipstick is something that every girl has battled with at some point in her life.
Everybody envies the classic look, yet it all seems like too much hassle and worry.

Will the shade suit me?
Will I end up with it all over my teeth?
What if it doesn't last a long time and wear well on my lips? It will look all patchy and faded.
If I go for a long wearing matte consistency will it dry my lips out and look all flakey?

In my time I have had many trial and error experiences when it comes to red lips. All the cringe worthy experiences of having red smudged all over my face, also came along with finding the perfect formulas that are non-drying and extremely long lasting.

No'1 for me has to be the Sephora Matte Lip Cream in 01 which I discovered whilst in Florida last year. It was love at first sight, well first application. It is a slightly deeper red than I would usually go for but the formula is like none other. It is called a lip cream for a reason, the consistency is like a dream, ridiculously creamy with a really unique vanilla scent.

When on the lips you can't even tell your wearing a lipstick in the first place and it does not budge all day. Believe me, I've eaten many burritos whilst wearing this and it has not budged.

And the best thing is it was only around $11?!

AMAZING!

Next up is Lady Danger from MAC. A beautiful bright red with a vibrant orange undertone. It's one of the most unique shades of red available on the market, which I personally love it for.

Compared to the Sephora Matte Lip Cream, it is slightly more drying, however if you begin with a good quality lip balm it is perfect and nowhere near as drying as something like Ruby Woo. It retails for £15.50, so the priciest of the bunch, but if your a Mac lipstick hoarder or your after a vibrant matte red then this is your guy!

Finally we have a Boujois Rouge Edition Velvet in Hot Pepper! It is another bright red with an orange undertone. It isn't as intense as Lady Danger but is still similar so if your after a more affordable version of Lady Danger I would definitely recommend Hot Pepper!

One of my favourite things about this liquid lipstick is the formula, it almost cushions the lips as the consistency is so soft and smooth, whilst still having an amazing long wearing time!

Whats your favourite red lipstick?

My Skincare Secret | The Body Shops Vitamin E Range

Friday, 27 March 2015

One of my new years resolutions was to start taking care of my skin, because honestly before now i've never had a skincare routine, I would take my makeup of with a wipe and then ask my mum to pick up any old moisturiser.

To be fair, that did work for me for a while, I've never had seriously bad skin, I went through a phase of having spots on my forehead but for that I used Origins Spot Remover which was amazing, but like I said that was just a phase, which i'm sure every teenager goes through. So I don't have problematic skin, the occasional spot but nothing major, but one thing my skin has become is seriously dry.
Dry skin had never been a problem for me until a few months ago, I don't know what changed but all the moisture in my skin just disappeared, my makeup would last 2 minutes and then look awful, it would cling to dry patches, and need I say anymore? Basically, It wasn't a pretty picture.

SO, when new year came around I decided to make it one of my resolutions to "invest" in some skincare, I know I know, The Body Shop probably doesn't count as "investing" but i'm a student give me some slack. I tried out a few products and I liked them but nothing crazy, until I came across the Vitamin E range, and so far everything I have tried from the range I absolutely love!

I'm going to kick things of with the Vitamin E Serum, which retails for £12. I apply this after cleansing, but before moisturiser. I'm not going to lie, the first few time I used this my skin did sting a little bit, nothing painful but there was definite stinging, but I thought I would carry on using it as my skin does tend to be quite sensitive anyway and once the redness had calmed down my skin instantly felt hydrated. After using it for around 8 weeks I love it, my skin still drinks this up like crazy but now it is a crucial step in my routine, which actually does make a difference!

Next I have the Vitamin E Illuminating Moisture Cream, which retails for £11. Now I used this in the morning after my serum before my makeup, as it is an illuminating cream it is perfect for spring/summer as it adds an extra glow to your skin which really does shine through your makeup.

I honestly love this stuff, especially for this time of year, It is a perfect morning moisturiser and makes me look awake immediately, which believe me is hard! Due to the cream having illuminating particles in it, it has a really peculiar iridescent almost holographic glow running through it, which reminds me of MAC Strobe Cream mixed with moisturiser. So if your a lover of fresh dewy skin then I definitely recommend checking this out!

On the subject of creams, I thought I would move on the the Vitamin E Eye Cream, which retails at £11. Now I know I am only 16, and eye creams are aimed towards more matured skin.
However my under-eye area is one of the driest areas on my face, meaning my concealer can often look cakey. Also, this particular eye cream claims to help with reducing the appearance of dark under-eye circles, so i'm all for anything that can help reduce those sallow eye bags. Ew.

I have been using this cream for a number of weeks now and I honestly can't really tell a dramatic change but I know it definitely contributes towards the overall improvement of my skin! So if your after a hydrating, eye-bag repelling eye cream, then this is the one for you!

Last but not least is the Vitamin E Overnight Serum-In-Oil, as the name would suggest this is a product that I use in the evening, it is also described as "beauty sleep in a bottle" now I'm not saying you can get 4 hours sleep, apply this then wake up looking like you've had the most amazing 9 hour sleep ever. Yet you can wake up with incredibly smooth hydrated happy skin!

The product itself is a very smooth oil that comes through a pipet, so you do feel like your doing GCSE science all over again which isn't the best, but it is definitely unique compared to your average evening moisturiser. The packaging feels more luxurious than the other products as the bottle itself is made out of either glass or clay, i'm not too sure but either way it definitely feels more luxurious than your average plastic tube.

Thats all from me! Whats your favourite skincare range?

3 Spring Beauty Essentials

Tuesday, 24 March 2015

Spring is officially here so ditch the mahogany toned nail polishes and opt for something fresh and fun!

Here are three products that I have incorporated into my beauty regime in order to make it more spring appropriate, enjoy!

I'm going to start with probably my favourite, the lips. There is no better time than spring to play around with corals and fuchsia pinks, so here I have a lipstick I recently picked up from the L'Oreal counter. It is one of the new "Colour Riche" lipsticks in the shade 136 Flamingo Elegance, firstly I LOVE the name! Secondly it is such a stunning colour, completely daytime appropriate and I know it is definitely going to be one of my most worn shades in the upcoming months!

Next up, fragrance. Don't get me wrong I am a huge lover of deep, musky, earthy tones in fragrances, one of my all time favourites is "Narciso Rodriguez For Her" yet I've worn the same kind of perfume since October, when winter began, so i'm due a change.

In spring I adore fresh fragrances, one of my favourites is Marc Jacobs Daisy, its a gorgeous fresh floral, not granny floral though don't worry, scent- one of the only ways to describe it, is that it smells of a really hot summers day. I know that doesn't make much sense but you all get my drift..

Finally i'm moving on to nails. I feel like everyone has been going on about Essies "Wicked" for the last 19374638 months.. I definitely think its time to move on to something bright and fun!
This Maybelline nail polish is perfect for the warner months, its bright, youthful and long-lasting..perfect! Looking at it, it can be intimidating, but honestly once its on your nails its not as obvious as you may think, and i'll bet you'll get complements on it..trust me. Oh and I forgot to mention the name is "Uptown Blue."

So thats all for today! What are your spring beauty must haves?

Lots of love,
Nina

Hey guys! Spring is approaching and I couldn't be more excited.
Its the perfect time to switch up and experiment with your style, so the other day I put together a casual outfit with a grunge edge to it, and honestly I love the finished look!

My distressed shorts and simple grey v-neck are from Topshop, which I paired with my vintage flannel shirt and my new obsession which is my faux leather gilet from Mango!

And to finish it off, my boots are from Public desire!

Short but sweet but I hope you enjoyed non-the-less!
