One of my new years resolutions was to start taking care of my skin, because honestly before now i've never had a skincare routine, I would take my makeup of with a wipe and then ask my mum to pick up any old moisturiser.
To be fair, that did work for me for a while, I've never had seriously bad skin, I went through a phase of having spots on my forehead but for that I used Origins Spot Remover which was amazing, but like I said that was just a phase, which i'm sure every teenager goes through. So I don't have problematic skin, the occasional spot but nothing major, but one thing my skin has become is seriously dry.
Dry skin had never been a problem for me until a few months ago, I don't know what changed but all the moisture in my skin just disappeared, my makeup would last 2 minutes and then look awful, it would cling to dry patches, and need I say anymore? Basically, It wasn't a pretty picture.
SO, when new year came around I decided to make it one of my resolutions to "invest" in some skincare, I know I know, The Body Shop probably doesn't count as "investing" but i'm a student give me some slack. I tried out a few products and I liked them but nothing crazy, until I came across the Vitamin E range, and so far everything I have tried from the range I absolutely love!
I'm going to kick things of with the Vitamin E Serum, which retails for £12. I apply this after cleansing, but before moisturiser. I'm not going to lie, the first few time I used this my skin did sting a little bit, nothing painful but there was definite stinging, but I thought I would carry on using it as my skin does tend to be quite sensitive anyway and once the redness had calmed down my skin instantly felt hydrated. After using it for around 8 weeks I love it, my skin still drinks this up like crazy but now it is a crucial step in my routine, which actually does make a difference!
Next I have the Vitamin E Illuminating Moisture Cream, which retails for £11. Now I used this in the morning after my serum before my makeup, as it is an illuminating cream it is perfect for spring/summer as it adds an extra glow to your skin which really does shine through your makeup.
I honestly love this stuff, especially for this time of year, It is a perfect morning moisturiser and makes me look awake immediately, which believe me is hard! Due to the cream having illuminating particles in it, it has a really peculiar iridescent almost holographic glow running through it, which reminds me of MAC Strobe Cream mixed with moisturiser. So if your a lover of fresh dewy skin then I definitely recommend checking this out!
On the subject of creams, I thought I would move on the the Vitamin E Eye Cream, which retails at £11. Now I know I am only 16, and eye creams are aimed towards more matured skin.
However my under-eye area is one of the driest areas on my face, meaning my concealer can often look cakey. Also, this particular eye cream claims to help with reducing the appearance of dark under-eye circles, so i'm all for anything that can help reduce those sallow eye bags. Ew.
I have been using this cream for a number of weeks now and I honestly can't really tell a dramatic change but I know it definitely contributes towards the overall improvement of my skin! So if your after a hydrating, eye-bag repelling eye cream, then this is the one for you!
Last but not least is the Vitamin E Overnight Serum-In-Oil, as the name would suggest this is a product that I use in the evening, it is also described as "beauty sleep in a bottle" now I'm not saying you can get 4 hours sleep, apply this then wake up looking like you've had the most amazing 9 hour sleep ever. Yet you can wake up with incredibly smooth hydrated happy skin!
The product itself is a very smooth oil that comes through a pipet, so you do feel like your doing GCSE science all over again which isn't the best, but it is definitely unique compared to your average evening moisturiser. The packaging feels more luxurious than the other products as the bottle itself is made out of either glass or clay, i'm not too sure but either way it definitely feels more luxurious than your average plastic tube.
Thats all from me! Whats your favourite skincare range?
Lots of Love
Nina
